Emerging New Talent in Sculptural Ceramics

Sinead GlynnAward winning ceramic artist Sinéad Glynn uses a blend of fine art, ceramics and sculpture to create her own unique pieces.

2009 was a very busy year for Sinéad as well as graduating with a first class honour in B.Des(Hons) Ceramics from the National College of Art and Design. She also was the recipient of the Ceramic Ireland Award for “Best Innovative Ceramics”, the "Gallery Zozimus Award" in the Ceramic Ireland Exhibition and the Peter Brennan "Annual Pioneering Award".

The inspiration behind her current body of work is the “co-existence of the unique with the similar”. Through the medium of clay particularly slip-casting and using raku and smoke firing Sinéad has produced her award winning pieces.

For Sinéad, 2010 is just as busy. Her work is currently available in the Mill Cove Galleries, Castletownbere, Cork and Kenmare, Co Kerry. In April she will be taking part in a Ceramic Group show “Art of Clay” in the Gallery Zozimus, Dublin from the 8th April. She has also been invited to work with Business to Arts and Tile Style Exhibition. Sinéad is currently working on her new body of work which she will be exhibiting in September at Gallery Zozimus. She has applied for the Future Makers Award, the RDS National Crafts Competition, The Irish Contemporary Awards in the Hallward Gallery and the Sculpture in Context 2010 to name just a few.
